Now don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% a pure lululemon gal but I’m so tempted to to try out some items from those brands mentioned above. However I’m always hesitant about ordering things online because not everything fits the same. That being said, has anyone purchased anything from these brands and if so, how was the sizing? Are they worth it??Thanks in advance:)EDIT: for reference, I’m 5’7 and I usually wear a 4 in lulu bottoms across the board (pace rivals, Wunder Unders, inspire tight, aligns etc and sometimes 2 in aligns and Wunder unders depending on the color, and 6 in shorts) and I’m a 32/34D so I usually wear 6/8 in tops.
I’ve purchased several times from buffbunny collection. Quality is not as good as lululemon, but it is much cheaper and she’s had some cute prints and designs. I’ve noticed she keeps improving the fit of items as they re-release (example the rosa collection)In lululemon I wear a 4 in aligns, 6 in other bottoms, 4 in tops, 6 in energy bra (32c) and 4 in looser bras like FTB serene. I’m 5’6”.In the Luna leggings I can fit in a small, but for the island print I sized up to a medium and they fit fine too. There’s some extra length in all BB leggings at the bottom, but lululemon 7/8 lengths are full length on me.
I’ve returned almost all the shorts I’ve purchased, they ride up or cut into my thighs no matter the size. I have a small in the onyx white marble leggings. Fit fine, but aren’t completely squat proof. The jasmine joggers are my FAVE, seriously. Really nice, thick, smooth material, with good construction. I sized up to medium for more of a loose in the knee and lower leg jogger fit vs leggings with pocket and ankle band look.Aurora crops used to run small so I’d get a medium, but she’s fixed that and now smalls fit the same as older mediums.Bras tend to run big if you don’t have fake boobs.
I have small in the jade marble bra and it’s wearable, but too big for real support. Band is wider than my energy bras in a 6. An XS would be better. My Rosa bra is a small, could’ve sized down for more support, but it’s fine.
Balance Athletica shoppers told us they save an average of 7% with our codes. More balanceathletica.com coupons & discount codes. I'm a 6 for wonder under and I received my preorder from the balance athletica animal kingdom collection in medium and that one first me perfectly (5'7, 153lb). If I'm being super itty gritty then I would describe this size on me more roomy than it is snug. I did hear that the balance OG pant is a much sturdier fabric and runs smaller than.
The nubre fabric is nice and comparable to align soft.Haven’t tried balance, but I’d encourage you to look into P’tula as well. Another Instagram brand and she makes some great, simple leggings in the same price range. I primarily was considering the marble pattern crop/shorts and the aurora crop. I don’t have fake boobs so my other concern was whether I’d be better off in the small or medium ? but I wear a 6 as well in the lulu energy bras so this really helps.I’ll check P’tula as well! I was just really interested in those two brands because balance athletica has some prints being released on the 12th this month and an instagrammer I follow wears BB a lot!
She has fake boobs though so I didn’t think it would be a good comparison to go off of ?. I've ordered from Balance Athletica's first Kingdom Collection Pre-sale. All my pieces are squat proof and gives minor camel (I am just prone to it) and washes well (inside out on cold, hang to dry). Many reviews say that the OG pant is comparable to Lululemon Aligns and I have to disagree; the OG pant has a brushed, thicker fabric but nowhere as soft or thin as Aligns. OG pants haven't pilled on me and it feels they're able to handle more intense workouts The Ascend pants are dubbed as the performance pant and it has lots of give (I would recommend to size down if you are between sizes).
I am also really fond of the fact that they lined the interior with the matching based colour (ie orange layer with King Cheetah, red with the Copperhead etc), so when you squat, the pattern doesn't go white. The Ascend top has a mesh layer side the back, which makes the bra feel very breathable, however I found the straps tend to slip esp if I haven't got my sweat on.I am a 165 cm, 56kg, 34 A; I usually wear all Lululemon bottoms and bras in 4 and I got all smalls in the Ascend top (Copperhead), OG pant (black), and Ascend pant (King Cheetah).
If I were to reorder again, I would probably go down to a XS in the Ascend top (proud member of IBTC) and Ascend pants (I don't have a huge butt or wide hips so I have excess fabric in the crotch area). I'd say due to the more compressive nature of the OG pant, you could go with your true size or size up for lounging comfort.I've tried Ptula as well, just the Alainah III in Marina Blue and the Veronica bra in Seafoam, both in size small. The Alainahs have a brushed fabric but are thicker than Aligns (even thicker than OG Pant) which is feels sturdier for weightlifting and other higher intensity workouts.
Marina Blue is a blue-y mint colour and I could squat with a black thong and you couldn't see anything. Minor camel tho. The seam on the bottom of the leggings does contour your calf but can leave a mark when you take them off.
I am not super fond of the Ptula logo placement on the bottom of the leg, its too big and distracting to me. I ended up returning the Veronica bra, the sides of the bra is cut too high and straps gathered unflatteringly around my traps (I tried it on for 10 mins and it left my traps aching). I probably should have gotten a medium but the style wasn't flattering or unique enough for me to keep.Between these two IG brands, I like Balance as their fits and patterns work better with my body shape (I've been stopped so many times by girls asking about the King Cheetah leggings) but I'm probably going to stick with Lululemon, as it is way more accessible and the weak Canadian dollar doesn't make these brands anymore price competitive.
I am still a die-hard for Free to Be Serene bras and In Movement leggings. I'm a 6 for wonder under and I received my preorder from the balance athletica animal kingdom collection in medium and that one first me perfectly (5'7, 153lb). If I'm being super itty gritty then I would describe this size on me more roomy than it is snug. I did hear that the balance OG pant is a much sturdier fabric and runs smaller than their patterned ones. I got a few compliments from random people already on my cheetah tights, and so I could not keep myself together and just ordered a new green snakeskin pattern pant that released today. I am a sucker for this stuff. I have bought a few pieces of every launch from balance.
Absolutely love all the pieces I have bought. I have hiked and gone through countless kickboxing classes in these leggings and they hold up well. However, I wore the OG tie dye pants for no gi jiu jitsu and they have started pilling after just one training session. So if you're looking for leggings for your basic workouts or weight lifting I can't reccomend them enough, but with more contact sports probably not the best choice.
Their jackets and shirts however are absolutely life changing!.
